Chapter 8

Desirae’s hands flew back as she darted towards the figure. Her body was barely noticeable due to the high speed of her movements. She stopped her in tracks and got behind the figure then slammed her fist into its back.
The figure grunted as it flew up into the air and onto the ground nearby.
Desirae brushed her skirt and cracked her neck, “You’re dealing with Sunset Valley’s guardian!”
The figure stood up and looked back at her. It nodded its head and became enveloped in bright light. Once it had disappeared, Prim and Rue of the circus stood there before her.
Desirae covered her mouth and backed up. “What… What the heck is going on…?”
Suddenly, Bella shot out of the sky and slammed her foot into the back of Desirae’s head, knocking her onto the ground and sending her unconscious. Bella looked towards Prim and Rue silently and Braun walked over to her body.
Braun knelt down and picked up Desirae in his arms. “I’ll take the girl back” he said in his thick accent.
Bella nodded and ran off towards the town to perform for the circus.
Rue and Prim walked over and looked at Desirae as she began to glow and returned to her normal look. Rue looked up at Braun, “Who is she…”
Braun shook his head, “I’m not sure little one…”
Prim was fumbling with her side braid for her hair, “She was very dangerous…” she said in a high pitched voice. She was scared, and hid behind Braun.
Braun nodded at them, “Yes… Indeed she was… She’ll make a great use tonight indeed”
Rue grabbed Prim’s hand and lead her away as Braun headed back towards the circus. As he walked, he looked down at Desirae. His face turned more serious as he began to rethink his actions. He thought too much, he almost crushed Morgana with his humongous foot! He stumbled back and sighed, “This is…” he began but stopped himself. He nodded his head accepting his job and picked up Morgana as well, then headed back towards the circus.

Georgia busted down the front door and fell face first into the couch. Tear streamed from her face and splashed against the cloth of the soft sofa.
Leefah and Chasity soon entered the house and saw her bawling her eyes out. The girls ran over immediately in shock.
                “What’s wrong?” Leefah asked worriedly.
Georgia looked up with her eyeliner smeared and shaped like tears on her cheeks. She sniffled and replied, “Me and Desirae had a fight…”
Chasity got up and went to the kitchen silently.
Leefah watched her exit the room and continued to ask questions. “Why did you have a fight?” she asked calmly.
Georgia looked away, “I wanted to go see this circus place that came to town and… she said no….”
Leefah rolled her eyes, “That’s… Why you are crying….”
Georgia poked her lips out a made an angry duck face, “Yes…”
Leefah stood up, “You have got to be kidding! Just go anyways! She isn’t your boss, even if you say she is your best friend!”
                Chasity re-entered the room quietly.
Leefah looked over and pointed at her, “Do you honestly think that if Chasity said I can’t do something that I’ll listen to her!”
Chasity laughed, “Oh Leelee…” she wrapped her arms playfully around Leefah, “I just love when you disobey my warnings. You were quite a trouble maker back at the academy”.
Leefah smirked, “No I wasn’t, and I just always have bad luck following in my wake…”
Georgia sat up slowly and wiped her eyes, “So… what you’re saying is that I shouldn’t get mad at Desirae?...”
                Leefah and Chasity nodded.
“You guys are best friends right? Nothing to get mad over not going with her to a circus… Maybe she’ll come around and end up going with you anyways?” Leefah suggested.
“And if not, Leefah and I will go with you!” Chasity butted in happily.
Georgia sniffled and smiled, “Thanks you two! I’m gonna go change, can you guys help me go find Desirae? I left her back in town and I want to apologize to her” Georgia asked.
                “Sure thing!” Leefah answered.
Georgia stood up and ran off upstairs to her room.
Leefah and Chasity watched her until she had disappeared and they heard her room door slam. Their faces then went serious and they walked to the kitchen.
Chasity sat down at a nearby table which had a crystal ball attached to it. Inside, it had swirling colorful smoke mixed and flowing around inside the glass, giving off an ominous glow. She looked over at Leefah who then took a seat across from her.
Leefah looked at her, “I need you set the search for a wide radius of the town… I know what I felt…”
Chasity looked at her worriedly, “I know you may think you felt a ton of magic energy suddenly flowing through Sunset Valley… but isn’t it a little early to say something is wrong… and what would be the idea if there is something wrong.”
Leefah slammed her fist onto the table, “Then I’ll take care of it Chas! Please… Just do this for me…”
Chasity gulped and nodded. She rose her hands to the side of the crystal ball and slowly released a yellow aura from her body. The aura flowed like octopus tentacles and latched themselves onto the glass of the crystal ball. She closed her eyes and began to mutter a chant, “Oh crystal ball, please for your sake, show me any magic users possessing tremendous influxes of magic power in the Sunset Valley radius…”
The smoked then began to swirl faster and faster! It then changed color to a bright red and the girls stared into it intensely. In the center of the smoked, a joker card from a card deck swirled in the center and slammed against the glass.
The girls fell back in their seats and gasped at it. They leaned forward and stared at it, examining it, thinking about its meaning.
Chasity sat back in her seat annoyed, “Well… that was a bust…” she replied and stood up. She flipped her hair over her shoulder, “Well Leelee, does it mean anything?”
Leefah shook her head, “No… I think what happened is that someone knows the crystal ball searched for them and used an object to block their identity…”
Chasity tapped her chin, “Hmm… So then we must be dealing with an experienced Spellcaster…”
Leefah stood up, “And we have no idea if they are alone or in a group… on top of that, It seems that circus Georgia is talking about will attract a large amount of people! What if this person decides to attack the civilians?” Leefah suggested worriedly.
Chasity nodded, “It would spell trouble for a lot of people… I think I know some people who can help though…” She walked over to the house phone and dialed a number. She turned and leaned against the counter as the phone buzzed trying to make the call.
The phone suddenly clicked and a masculine voice popped over the phone, “HELLO!!!” Kt shouted.
Chasity lifted the phone from her ear after the loud greeting. She twitched her eye and grit her teeth, “Agent Kalicko?! What have I told you about shouting!” she placed the phone on the counter and flipped on the hanging TV in the kitchen.
As it popped on, a nerdy looking man sat at a desk and peered into a camera that appeared to be attached to a computer monitor. The man adjusted his glasses and smiled at the two girls, “Oh… sorry for shouting at you Miss Chasity, I was in an intense video game!” he replied and took a breath out of his inhaler.
Leefah walked up to the TV and looked at the boy. His hair was curly and black as a shadow. His eyes were bright yellow and he had fairly pale skin. His glasses were humongous and he wore a hideously colored sweater vest. Leefah put her hands on her hips, “So… who are you?”
The boy wiped a bead of sweat off his head, “Oh right… My name is Kyoko Kalicko, nice to meet you…. OH WOW!” the boy stopped and shot his face up close to his computer monitor, “I know you! You’re the famous witch friend Miss Chasity always brags about!”
Leefah’s face went red with anger and she turned around glaring at Chasity who stood awkwardly against the counter while sweating profusely.
Kyoko fell back against his chair, “It’s an honor to meet you Miss Leefah!”
Leefah turned around and faced Kyoko, “It’s nice to meet you too Kyoko, I’m afraid I’ve never heard about you though…” she said embarrassingly.
Chasity walked up and wrapped her hand around Leefah playfully, “Kyoko is my partner at the Public Protections Office. We’re in the Civilian Services unit remember? I’m sure I mentioned him…”
Kyoko waved his hand no, “It’s alright Miss Chasity, I don’t care much for leaving the office and interacting anyways… What can I do for you on your day off though?”
Chasity went to her crystal ball and opened the top, then took the Joker card out of it and held it up. “I’m going to fax you this and I want you to analyze it immediately, then send it to me when done. I want you to see if you can match it to any of the registered Spellcasters alright? When you are done, send the contents to my phone.”
Kyoko nodded, “Aye Miss Chasity!” he replied happily.
Chasity walked over and set the card to transport mode on her fax machine.
Leefah looked at the monitor, “So… Kyoko…”
Kyoko looked up from his papers, “Hmm? Is something wrong Miss Leefah?”
Leefah crossed her arms, “I was wondering, What other things does Chasity say about me at your office?”
Chasity screamed and shoved Leefah away from the TV, “I sent it so I’ll let you go now, Bye Kyoko!” She fumbled with the remote and shut off the TV quickly.
Leefah looked up from the floor at her, “Chasity…”
Chasity winked at her, “Oh Leelee… Just be honored I talk about you to everyone…”
She stood up angrily and then tackled her, pulling her hair back, “I told you not to brag about me!”
Chasity giggled while in pain, “Oh Leelee! I look forward to days like this, our friendship is so strong and won’t be torn apart!”
Leefah pulled her hair harder, “Our friendship might not tear apart but your hair will get torn off your scalp if you never learn!”
Georgia hummed to herself happily and she turned the corner to enter the kitchen only to scream at the sight of the two girls! She ran over and smacked Leefah off Chasity, “No Leefah! Bad!” she commanded as though Leefah were a ravenous dog.

Joker sat angrily in a chair placed in the center of a stage. He sighed with his head resting against his arm, “It seems this plan is a little off at the moment…” he told himself. He flicked a Joker card in his other hand between his fingers and then made it disappear into smoke.
Tophet then strolled onto the stage and stood next to him, silently and creepily. “My love… Is something wrong…?”
Joker tsked, “That Spellcaster girl you told me about… What was her name?”
Tophet turned and walked in front of him. “Georgia Birch…”
Joker shook his head no, “The other one… the one who possesses great power…”
Tophet raised an eyebrow, “Morgana Wolff?”
Joker shook his head no again, “The 5th Most Powerful Witch…”
Tophet nodded, “Leefah Kagyura… my love…”
Joker smirked, “Yes… that sounds right… Is she on our list?”
Tophet twirled her umbrella uncomfortably, “I’m afraid not my love… why?”
Joker stood up ominously, “Add her to the list and go stretch…” he then walked to the edge of the stage.
Tophet turned and looked at him worriedly, “My love, is everything okay?”
Joker looked at her, “Of course my dear… only a little game of man hunt on her part”
