Chapter 6

Georgia and Desirae pressed up against the backs of the crowd and stood on their toes to see what everyone had been staring at.
“See anything?” Georgia asked as she struggled to keep her balance.
Desirae fell back onto her heels, “This is pointless” she muttered.
The two girls stumbled back as they heard the crowd awe in agreement.
Desirae pushed her sleeve up and clenched her fist, then her teeth and started to growl angrily at the crowd.
Georgia placed her hands on Desirae’s shoulders and asked her to calm down.
Desirae then cried a battle cry and smashed her way through the crowd with Georgia clinging to her for dear life!
The two girls managed to end up in the center of the crowd in a second flat. They stumbled onto the ground and looked up at the center of the crowd’s attention.
A man and woman were standing there, staring at them. Their faces were annoyed, more than likely because they had interrupted them.
Desirae and Georgia stood up awkwardly and walked back into the crowd like nothing happened.
The woman and the man then went serious and started back up their routine.
The woman shot her hand out and a flute appeared from a cloud of smoke. She looked down at the ground and glared, causing another poof of smoke and a basket appeared. She plopped down on the ground and started playing the flute. A snake slowly started slithering from the basket and began to move its body to sound of the music’s grace. After a minute of the woman’s desert tunes, she turned and looked at the man.
His figure was bulging with muscles, and he was smiling confidently. “Aha ha!” he laughed and he threw a bench into the air.
The entire crowd gasped at the sight of the throw!
But that wasn’t all, the man then turned to the chess table and tossed that up into the air aswell.
                The crowd awed again.
The man then laughed once more, turned to the fountain and ripped it from the ground easily. He shot it into the air with the other objects and began juggling them!
                Everyone in the crowd cheered!
He placed the objects back in their rightful places and bowed alongside the girl. He looked up and twisted his amazing handlebar mustache, “Hello there everyone!” he spoke in a thick Russian accent. “My name is Braun, and this here is my friend Bella! Say hello to the crowd Bella! Eh?” she asked politely.
The girl, Bella, kept her face blank. “We are here to show you a preview of what is to come at tonight’s show. We are representing the Blood Moon Circus.” She was about to continue but her phone rang. She made a surprised face and turned around to answer.
Braun stepped forward, “There is so much fun that awaits you tonight indeed! Fun for the little ones and everything!”
Desirae looked over at Bella and saw she was nodding her head seriously.
Bella then made a quick glance at Desirae and then back towards the ground to continue the phone conversation.
Desirae narrowed her eyes at her.
Georgia looked at her surprised. “Something wrong?”
Desirae shook her head, “No… Nothing…”
Braun bowed once again at the crowd’s applause. “Be sure to arrive on time! One show begins at 3 and another at 7 o’clock tonight! We hope you all come and have a blast!”
The crowd cheered one last time and then dispersed back into their lives and park fun.
Desirae and Georgia smiled at each other and turned to leave but were stopped by Bella.
Her eyes were almost dead, as though nothing resided behind them. “We hope you’ll enjoy the show tonight…”
                Desirae crossed her arms.
Georgia tapped her cheek unaware of Desirae’s uncertainty. “I dunno if we can make it though… You said 3 and 7 right?”
Braun walked past and patted her on the back, “Yes indeed. You seem like a spirited young gal, what’s your name?” he asked politely.
Georgia smiled, “Georgia." she answered and looked at Desirae, "And this is my friend Desirae. Our friends may want to come too though!...but we don’t know if they’ll be ready at 3. We can try the 7 o’clock one though!”
Bella whispered to Braun and he made a shocked face. He then nodded, “I see… I see…” he said to her then turned to Georgia and Desirae. “I seem to have been corrected, The 7 o’clock show was moved to 9. Apparently my dear friend Bella here got a call and they had to change due to a problem with one of our performers.”
Georgia frowned, “Oh bummer! Well I guess the 9 o’clock it is then… Do I need to buy tickets early?”
Bella shook her head, “For you both it is free…” she stated in a monotone voice.
Braun wrapped his arm around Bella, “What my friend means, it’s free to the public to get in. We only make money off the concessions and tickets eh?”
Georgia cupped her hands, “Wow, you guys sound so amazing!” she said in awe.
                Desirae tssked and looked away.
Bella looked at Desirae, “We hope you both can make it…”
Braun nodded, “The more the merrier as they say in my country. You two ladies have a nice day eh?”
Georgia nodded and smiled, “We will, thanks!”
Desirae ignored the two and glanced at them as they departed the park.
Georgia looked at Desirae angrily, “You were pretty rude ya know!”
Desirae rolled her eyes, “they didn’t bother to stop anyone else to let them know that the alleged ‘7 o’clock’ show had changed times” she replied.
“So? They probably remembered us from interrupting their performance thanks to your little attempt at getting in the spotlight!” Georgia yelled.
Desirae turned, “I’m telling you those guys are suspicious, we are not going!” she yelled.
Georgia stomped her foot on the ground, “I wanna go! It looks like fun! I don’t need to go with you anyways! I’m going alone!”
Desirae gasped, “You… You can’t just go to some random place alone! Especially at night!”
Georgia turned around and crossed her arms, “It’s not like I need protection. I’m almost a level 2 at spellcasting!
Desirae lowered her eyebrows, “Almost doesn’t mean you are… You shouldn’t go somewhere alone!”
Georgia turned around and stuck her tongue out, “I don’t care! If you were my friend you would go with me despite your weird hatred to circus freaks!”
Desirae glared, “I don’t hate the circus, these guys are weird I’m telling you!”
Georgia stuck her tongue out again, “I don’t wanna hear it! I have stuff to do, we can talk this over back at the house!” Georgia screamed angrily and fled the park.
Desirae sighed, “Leave it to Georgia to have the most childish mind of us all… She’s 18 and still is infatuated with things like the circus” she muttered to herself. She walked towards the fountain and ran her finger over the wet covering of the fountain. She looked up towards the direction of the Circus and could barely make out the tent off in the distance. She clenched a fist, “Something isn’t right… I may not be a witch or a fairy… but I am something special…” she tapped her necklace and looked at the gem in the center.
Families all around her were having a blast in the afternoon sun. Children squealed as they played with their fathers and mothers set out picnic baskets.
Desirae’s face lowered, “I’m checking that place out…”
She walked off from the fountain angrily and set her sights on the circus tent.
As she walked away, Braun and Bella walked up to the fountain and ran their hands along where Desirae did.
Bella looked at Braun, “I sense something…”
Braun nodded, “Indeed… Prim and Rue made a good find in those girls… however…”
Bella pulled out her phone and dialed someone.

Tophet sat upon a throne inside of a dressing room. It was dimly lit by one blacklight and caused eerie shadows to form around her. She looked down at her phone and saw she was getting a call. She slowly picked up her phone, “Hello?” she asked elegantly.
“Tophet… We have a problem…” Bella said on the other end of the line.
Tophet smirked, “And what is it exactly…”
“One of the targets Prim and Rue identified… Desirae… also known by the name of” Bella began.
The phone made a crackling sound before she could finish her sentence.
“What is the point you are getting at Bella?” Tophet asked trying to get the conclusion.
Bella grit her teeth at Tophet’s attitude and treatment of her, “She’s heading for the tent ahead of schedule…”
Tophet smiled, “I see… well… it would be pointless if I as an acrobat couldn’t think on my toes wouldn’t it?”
Bella rolled her eyes, “Me and Braun can take her down…”
Tophet slammed her hand against the leather of her throne. “No… You two continue drawing more crowds… I’ll get Prim and Rue to take care of this…”
Bella nodded, “Yes ma’am…” she replied and hung up.
Tophet lowered the phone from her ear and raised her hand to her face, resting her glove covered wrist against her forehead. “Life is such a struggle…” she moaned to herself. She slid her other hand off herself and onto the nearby table, and tapped a statue.
Prim and Rue dashed into the room and stopped before her. “Miss Tophet?” they both asked.
“Ahh yes, Prim and Rue… I have another task for you two before we begin the afternoon show…” she began.
